A very short tube ride to Hampstead Heath for a walk in a wooded ancient park and a formal garden. Landscape architect T.H. Mawson designed the Edwardian Pergola and Hill Garden for soap magnate William H. Lever between 1904 and 1925. 

Hackney City Farm / Books and Beers

The ongoing quest for a good thrift shop continues. On Saturday we took the bus to Dalston with high hopes. Well, the "huge" store (according to Yelp reviews) was actually pretty tiny compared to the massive warehouses of bric-a-brac and old sweaters we are accustomed to, but the day turned out pretty fantastic anyway. The book selection at the Oxfam shop was perfect and then Brian lead us to a farm in the middle of the city. The chickens were friendly and the pigs were HUGE. After spending some time with the animals we made our way to Columbia Road (so much quieter without that flower market) and had some really great triple fried chips and beer at The Royal Oak. I am still thinking about those chips.

London Fashion Week

Why did I love London Fashion Week? Well, fashion week is cool - all the cool people love fashion week. Also, the largest venues - Somerset House and Freemasons' Hall are just a few blocks away from our flat. The best part, however, is that my little Michelle was in London Fashion Week. I spent way too much time searching hashtags on instagram for Roo - it is way too good to see her behind the scenes getting ready for the catwalk. Also amazing - waiting for her to come running into the flat with the most insane hair and makeup and stories. All that is great, but then I finally got the courage to try to get into one of the shows - her last show of the week. SUCCESS! It was actually pretty easy. Wait, the best part of London Fashion Week is that my little sister's photo is in the New York Times.
